His procedure went well and we have to go back in a month for a check-up, but he had no complications. Coming out of anesthesia was hard to watch (read on for details). After he woke up from a little nap there, he was talking and wanting to eat. He was in a great mood all the way home and wanted to run around when we got home (even though he was staggering.) Thanks to everyone for your prayers!
This was right after they put him in his hospital gown. About 15 minutes after this picture was taken he began breaking out on his chest and back. The gown was made out of polyester and he was allergic so we had to change him into a t-shirt.
Trying to keep him occupied before surgery.
The nurses gave him some "happy juice" about 20 minutes before surgery. This medicine calmed him down and lessened stranger anxiety. He didn't even cry when they wheeled him away.
Pre surgery - Brooks had just been given the "happy juice."
After surgery they came and got us and said that Brooks did not like them too much. When we got to him he was wrestling a nurse like a wild dog. He had already pulled out his IV for them and was wanting the bandage off his hand. We had never seen him this inconsoliable before. He was kicking and screaming, even with us holding him. This lasted for about 15-20 minutes before he settled down for good. This picture is a snapshot of in-between fits.
